Direction From God?

So, our plan was to go to college in Okmulgee Oklahoma at OSUIT and get our Associates degrees, then move on to a four year University. Kyle and I have been working part time and going to college full time, for the most part, for almost two years now. If I were to keep going to OSUIT I would complete my degree this fall, and Kyle would complete his in Spring 2016. We have both been praying hard for God to show us what we need to do with our lives that would best serve him, and he has answered.

I filled out an application to OBU located in Shawnee (about an hour and a half drive) last year just to see how much Financial Aid I would get.(I didn't expect to get much, since this is a very expensive private Christian school) Well, I received my reward letter about a week ago and much to my surprise my tuition would be all paid for! This totally flabbergasted Kyle and I because it was not what we expected at all. I believe God has answered our prayer.

We have been discussing what to do about this and we have been weighing the pros and cons of moving, and we have finally decided to move to Shawnee this summer! I am so excited but scared at the same time, to move this far away from my home and family is kind of new to me. I have been searching for places to live and jobs in that area, and have had pretty good luck so far. We plan to move at the end of June after our trip to California, which I will mention in another post, and get settled in before school starts in mid-August. I hope to take you guys on this journey with me!

Adventure!

There is one thing that people have always asked me: "What do you want to be when you grow up?". Well, my answer is a bit fanciful. I want to and have always longed to be...an adventurer.

Ever since I was little I always loved nature and traveling(even though I always loved to return home after a trip), and I have longer still been fascinated by history, culture, and all types of peoples. I often daydream about traveling to another place or time, and meeting folk from other lands and time periods, wondering what life was or is like for them.

Could there be a little boy in Cambodia being taught to fish for the first time by his father? What happened in this old home in the 1800's when it was built? What could objects tell us about the people they have 'seen' if they could talk and remember? So many unanswered questions about the past and present that are so exciting to ponder!

My husband Kyle share the same ambition, to travel. We have been going to college for the past few years, planning out our careers and dreaming about faraway places... We always thought it'd be years before we would have enough money to travel, and even then we wouldn't get to spend much time seeing the places we wanted to see. Turns out we just had the wrong mindset! Recently I came across some videos and blogs that gave me an amazing idea, backpacking across the world!

Backpacking around the world is a perfect way for us to get to see all the places we want to see, and on a budget! If one sticks to the cheaper things, and goes were the locals go, they can easily live comfortably on 15-30 dollars a day! Depending on where you go, of course, it can get a bit more expensive. From what I've seen and researched, the USA is one of the more expensive places in the world to live, so why shouldn't we live cheap and have fun elsewhere? For a while at least.

How would we pay for it you ask? We will save up until the time comes! We also are planning on doing odd or Internet jobs abroad, which will hopefully help us make enough to keep traveling. We aren't planning on being abroad for more than a year, but you never know, we may fall in love with somewhere! Another question is, where will we stay when hotels and such are so expensive? The answer, hostels, or couchsurfing.
Couchsurfing is what it sounds like, it's a web site that allows people to find others who will let you sleep on their couch for free!(Don't worry, they do a background check) Hostels are places where one can stay for little or no money while visiting a city. This is a Hostel

Our intent is to go on this trip once we graduate college, and we will most likely sell all our stuff for the trip so we wont have to worry about storage fees, etc. Pretty much the only things we will own is what we can fit into our pack, and in our pockets! It will be so wonderful to live non-materialistic lives and only worry about each other and where we are going to next!

More to come about this subject later!

Young and Dumb

So I was 17 when I got married, I'm 18 now and life is good! My husband and I are both college students and are working while going to school. We live in Okmulgee Oklahoma in a trailer and we don't have much money but we are still happy! We both have a passion for video games and God. We can't wait to get out in the world and make a difference. Some people think we are just Young and Dumb, but we are much more than that, we are determined and walking on air!
